Congregation Etz Chayim

During the 1930s, Nazi Germany sponsored a secret propaganda war to transplant Nazism to the United States. Los Angeles was a particular hotbed for this extremist political activity. Secret systems were created to infiltrate, monitor and report on the political activities of these groups. Hidden from history for 80 years, the story of Hollywood's spies and the role they played in defeating American Nazism can now be told. Join Laura Rosenzweig to learn more about the Nazi past in Los Angeles and the role that Hollywood's spies played in defeating it.

Join Rabbi Chaim and his family for a seder via Zoom. You provide your own ritual foods and dinner, and Rabbi Chaim, Keren, Yaniv, Noam, and Lielle provide the experience. Registrants will receive a Zoom link, as well as a list of what foods you might want to have on your table to participate.

A casual conversation with Rabbi Chaim and other Etzniks beginning with a short teaching followed by the sharing of highlights, challenges, or reflections from the week.

Next Gen is offering a virtual Shabbat meditation and candle lighting, for people in their 20’s and 30’s. For meditation followed by candle lighting, challah, and wine. You are welcome to stay on the call for schmoozing and virtual Shabbat dinner. Meditation will start promptly at 6:50pm so that we can light candles at 7:03pm. Please prepare your candles, wine and challah before the call so we can transition smoothly from meditation to candle lighting. If you need to join late please just mute yourself and jump right in! Shabbat evening services are held every Friday at 7:30 p.m. and last about an hour.

Torah study is open to all. Join the discussion.

Shabbat morning services are held every Saturday at 10 a.m., and with Torah reading, last about two hours. Everyone is welcome to attend either service, including services that celebrate a Bar or Bat Mitzvah.

Join us as we engage in prayer and experience community -- through free-form movement, guided meditation/ecstatic dance (the kind you'd do when no one is watching). Have fun and find something greater than yourself through movement to beautiful music, with kavannah (intention) that draws on Jewish texts and ideas. Special music for Passover will played.
