Etz Talks: The Goldberg Rush: The Jews of San Francisco (and a few other places) with Judi Leff (Virtual)

Sunday, April 26, 2020 2 Iyyar 5780

10:00 AM - 12:00 PMVirtual

Why were Jews attracted to the Bay Area? What had they faced in their countries of origin? What did they bring to the "party"? What did they contribute to San Francisco and environs. and, how would the Bay Area have been different without the Jewish influence. This diversity of styles (and opinions) is reflected in the multiplicity of synagogues, temples, and organizations founded and maintained by the Jewish community. Judi hopes to make you laugh and learn, both would be best.

Judi Leff is a San Francisco native who worked for 17 years at Temple Emanu-El, where she was Director of Operations and Arts and Culture.  She is passionately interested in San Francisco Jewish history, and produced a live performance of the “125th Anniversary of the Jewish Cemeteries” in 2014. She is also a duchess in the court of Emperor Norton; and enjoys writing, directing, and performing comedy.
