Zooming the Talmud: Hadran Nazir (virtual)

Thursday, April 20, 2023 29 Nisan 5783

7:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Zooming The Talmud: Highlights from Tractate Nazir (A nazir is an "abstainer" from wine and funerals, and is the modern Hebrew word for a monk). Three types of actions are prohibited for a Nazirite (one with a "nazir/crowned" head of long hair):

  • getting corpse taint
  • and shaving off one’s hair,
  •  and eating or drinking anything that come from grapes.

But there are all sorts of "what-ifs" and special exceptions to consider. Rabbi Emeritus Ari Cartun will lead us in considering all these special scenarios. No familiarity with Talmud or Hebrew is required, and all your questions are welcome!
