Chazak, chazak, v'nitchazek! Strength through Torah and Dance
Simchat Torah marks the moment of not just ending one book of the Torah but also ending the entire Torah. We read the end of Deuteronomy and, without missing a beat, start again reading Torah from the book of Genesis. This transition is met with great joy as every person is invited for an aliyah to the Torah. Upon completing the Torah, we recite the words "chazak, chazak, v'nitchazek" (be strong and we will strengthen each other). The celebration continues with festive dancing led by Rabbi Chaim and the Etz pop-up Klezmer band. Come usher out Sukkat - known as Z'man Simchateinu, the Season of our Joy - in community and with strength.
A festive dinner will be served, it is carefully and thoughtfully prepared by the wonderful French Chef Julien. Many of you have enjoyed his amazing catering over the past two years, and we’re so lucky to have him with us again this year! The menu includes a fresh baby spinach salad, roasted salmon fillet with tomato sauce, zucchini, and penne pasta. Chef Julien is also preparing a caramelized apple and cinnamon crumble for us to enjoy! This dinner is about more than what’s on the table—it’s about strengthening our bonds, celebrating the completion of another annual Torah reading cycle, and embracing the spirit of the new year together.
We’d be deeply grateful to all volunteers who sign up to help with various tasks, and to anyone who would like to bring desserts — especially those offering gluten-free or dairy-free options.
Event led by Rabbi Chaim, Etz pop-up Klezmer band and Julia Kutik.
Fee: $10 per household for Etz members. $25 per household for non-members.
