Hebrew is an incredibly intentional and beautiful language. In Hebrew a song is a “shir”. But the songs we sing on Shabbat are called something different. A song we sing on Shabbat is called a “zemer” (זמר). If you read that word backwards you find the word “remez” (רמז), a hint. On Shabbat a song is a hint of something more, something holy, something unique. Join us all morning and even after kiddush as we continue to lift up Shabbat with song.
