Kick off the High Holy Days with an open and honest conversation with Pastor Bains who will speak about growing up black in Palo Alto. We will begin with some singing of traditional slichot (penitential) melodies, listen to some reflections from Pastor Bains followed by Q and A, and concluding with a little t'filah (prayer). This will be the first of several opportunities at Etz to reflect on Race and Racial Justice throughout the fall.

Pastor Paul J. Bains started and launched Project WeHOPE in 1999. He has been the pastor of Saint Samuel Church of God in Christ for 20 years. He is the Chaplain to the Palo Alto Police Department, among others.
