Men's Retreat (offsite)

Friday, October 24, 2014 30 Tishrei 5775

4:30 PM - 1:30 PM 1 day after

Why "Personal Transitions" as our theme?  We have all experienced significant transitions in our lives and some of us may be poised for one right now.  "Lech L'Cha" was the injunction to our ancestor Abram to "Get up and Go!" and it also means "Go Inside Yourself".  The Etz Men's Retreat will enable greater connection with men at Etz and a sharing of Jewish identity and spiritual experience among male adult members of Etz Chayim.

Our retreat will take place at the Presentation Center, a peaceful oasis tucked among the redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains.  The 67-acres provides a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and take time to communicate more clearly and deeply with each other, as well as have private time alone.  There are other hiking and biking trails off Bear Creek and Skyline roads near the conference center for additional outdoor activities before and after the retreat.

We have reserved cottages to accomodate 29 people, though we may be able to get additional rooms in the dormitory building.  Cafeteria-style meals are included in the event fee, and there is 24-hour availability of coffee, tea, and snacks.

James Baloun, Jonathan Salzedo, Aaron Schuman, Mitch Slomiak, and Bud Wittlin are organizing the retreat.  Rabbi Cartun is supporting and participating.  The Congregation never wants money to be a barrier to full participation in our community.  If you would like to attend but feel that you can't afford the full cost, please contact our executive director, Ellen Bob, to make alternative arrangements.

Sorry, Registration has ended.
