A Friday Night Sukkot Celebration Like No Other.
Kabbalat Shabbat Service Followed by a Delicious Mediterranean Dinner and Jews You Might Know Telling Jokes.
This Friday, October 10, starting at 6:00 pm. Please sign up below by Wednesday. Sukkot is known as the “Season of our Joy.” What better way to experience joy than via humor? At some point (presumably, after the service) hilarity will ensue as Etz members tell some of their favorite jokes.
We will begin our evening with a joyous service in the Beyt Knesset which will be streamed for people at home. This will be followed by a Mediterranean Dinner in the Sukkah which will include vegetable skewers, falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, Greek salad, pita, grape leaves, and tabbouleh. Dessert will include gluten-free cakes and cookies. The dinner is being hosted by Deborah and Gary DeFilippo in honor of James Baloun, the architect and driving force behind our beautiful new Sukkah. James has spent countless hours designing it, procuring every piece and cutting the wood, even building a great storage unit.
Our fabulous Etz joke tellers who are getting ready to make you laugh include Shai Tsur, Deborah Rose, Aaron Schuman, Mitch Slomiak, Evelyn Merritt, Lynn Gold, Rabbi Chaim Koritzinsky, with MC David Waksberg. There will be an etrog and a lulav available. We follow James Bond’s instructions for the lulav: “shaken, not stirred.”
