Fifth Friday Handbells Shabbat Service
Friday, December 29, 2017 • 11 Tevet 5778
7:30 PM - 9:00 PMMark Goldstein has been ringing handbells at Trinity Episcopal Church in Menlo Park for many years. Some time ago, memebrs of the bell choir asked if they could play for one of *his* Jewish services - and the Handbell Shabbat was born. It’s an unusual variation on our fifth Friday tradition. The handbells will accompany some of our Kabbalat Shabbat songs - including L’cha Dodi (with harp - it’s been a perennial hit). In addition, Jonathan Salzedo will bring his harpsichord onto the bimah to help us daven our way through the Amidah. Mark leads the service, which uses our traditional shabbat liturgy, interspersed with appropriate musical selections.
