The Death of Moses:
Biblical Text as Poetic Muse
Sunday, December 10
10:00 am-noon
Deuteronomy 34 meets
Ranier Marie Rilke and Yehudah Amichai
Possible cameo by Zora Neal Hurston!
There are many ways to read the Bible. Join us to explore one way to read the very last chapter of the Five Books of Moses, Deuteronomy chapter 34, to unpack the biblical verses and discover what happened at the end of Moses’s life. We will indulge in a slow, careful reading of the text in English, and then enjoy two poems by two 20th century poets. The most important component of this session are the questions the text evokes in participants, and our curiosity about what the text says and what it means.
ETZ talks are free and open to the public. Invite a friend!
