Ilan Blech will guide us through a comparison of photographs of Israel from the 19th century with photos of today. Photography of the Holy Land started almost as soon as the practical methods of photography were revealed in 1839. We will explore a number of sites and see the changes (or lack thereof), that have occurred over the century. Ilan collects vintage photos of Israel and over the years, has traveled to those locations to capture the subjects as they are now. He was born in Haifa, studied there, and then later in the USA. First arriving to California in 1964, he returned Israel, then came back again in 1984. He and his wife, Dahlia, have been members of Etz since 2001.
