ETZ Talk - What Comes After the Torah? The Books of the Jewish Library (Library)
Sunday, January 13, 2019 • 7 Shevat 5779
10:00 AM - 11:30 AMWhat Comes After Torah? The Books of the Jewish Library
Abra Greenspan
While most of us are familiar with Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy, these are only the first five books of the great texts of the Jewish people. What comes after Torah? There are the Prophets and the Writings that comprise the TaNaKh, the Hebrew Bible and so much more. In this workshop, we’ll be introduced to other classic works on the Jewish bookshelf including Mishna, Gemara, Talmud, Shulchan Aruch, Mishneh Torah, Zohar and others. What are they? Who wrote them? And, how do they inform our Jewish lives today?
ETZ TALKS are made possible by Jewish LearningWorks and the Newton and Rochelle Becker Charitable Trust and the members of Etz Chayim
