Etz Bookworms (Rm 12)
Sunday, October 7, 2018 • 28 Tishrei 5779
4:30 PM - 6:00 PMThe Bookworm’s next book project is by another literary giant: Seize the Day, by Saul Bellow. It's not as well-known as Bellow's Augie March, or Henderson the Rain King, but Seize the Day might be the more accessible book.
A day in the life of Wilhelm Adler (a.k.a. Tommy Wilhelm), a failed actor in his forties. Wilhelm is unemployed, impecunious, separated from his wife (who refuses to agree to a divorce), and estranged from his children and his father. He is also stuck with the same immaturity and lack of insight which has brought him to failure. In Seize the Day Wilhelm experiences a day of reckoning as he is forced to examine his life and to finally accept the "burden of self."
The Bookworms will meet to discuss Seize the Day on 10/07 at 4:30 p.m.
