You are invited to join us in a moderated group conversation on topics relating to the Etz Talk on January 30, “‘Can We Talk About Israel?’ Book Discussion with Author Daniel Sokatch.” Each person will have the opportunity to voice their ideas and concerns free of personal judgment. This is an opportunity for sharing ideas in a safe space, rather than debate.

Why do topics surrounding Israel turn some classic Jewish liberals into uber-conservatives? Why do compassionate and judicious intellectuals single Israel out for boycotts, sanctions, and a level of opprobrium they do not apply to the dozens of other state actors out there? How do we overcome feelings that talking about Israel just creates conflict? 

How did Sokatch’s commentary make you feel? Did you hear anything surprising, comforting, or concerning? These are possible topics we may explore in a mutually respectful environment.

Shai Tsur will introduce the topic including a recap of the Etz Talk. Mark Balch will moderate the conversation to facilitate inclusivity and provide everyone with an equal voice. Please join us - everyone across the Etz community is welcome.
