AdventurEtz: Shoreline Park Birdwatching
Sunday, February 16, 2014 • 16 Adar I 5774
10:00 AM - 12:30 PMShoreline Park-birdwatching (meet at Shoreline by 10 am)
Directions from Etz Chayim to Terminal Blvd, Mountain View (Shoreline; http://goo.gl/maps/yq9dR) -- a mere 7 minutes!
Ira Greenberg has offered to lead a birdwatching trip to Shoreline (Mtn View) Sunday, February 9th from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm. These birdwatching adventures have always been our best attended outings. Ira has a wonderful spotting scope, but in case we have a big crowd again you should also plan to carry your own binoculars along if you own any. Past birdwatching trips have netted at least 2 dozen species. Lot's of fun.
Ira's past advice about what to bring with you: "People should bring clothing layers (it can be chilly by the water), sun hats, and water, and if you have them binoculars, scopes, field guides. No previous experience or knowledge is needed." -- We both want to emphasize that this is NOT a "hike"; just an adventure. Total distance will be less than 1.0 mile. -- There is the possibility of an optional lunch following this adventure.
DIRECTIONS: Follow San Antonio Road east (actually closer to north, but you know what I mean), over the 101 overpass then through the lights until it ends with a right turn onto Terminal Blvd. There is lots of parking along Terminal Blvd. We'll meet at the gate on the left just as you turn onto Terminal Blvd. There is also a nice restroom just beyond the gate.
RSVP so we have some idea of the size of the group, but it's also OK to just show up if you get a last minute urge to learn about birds Sunday morning. If you have questions, feel free to email me (Steve) or phone us at home 650-856-9571.
Thanks and hope to see many of you this coming Sunday,
Steve & Emily (and more importantly Ira & Karen)
