5th Friday Solar Shabbat Service

In keeping with our time-honored Etz Chayim tradition, we'll be doing something a little different on the fifth Friday of June.

A group of Etz singers and musicians will lead the Kabbalat Shabbat (introductory) portion of the service with songs about the sun, which first appears at the mid-way point of our creation story (Day 4) in Genesis. The sun songs celebrate Etz Chayim becoming a solar shul this year. We will sing songs by the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, the Carter Family, John Denver, Tom Chapin, the musical "Hair," and a niggun from the Grateful Dead. The D'var Torah will be delivered by Rabbi Chaim along with a few of the members who collaborated on our rooftop solar project.
