Whenever there are five Fridays in a month, we like to do something a little different. It has been close to 9 months since we’ve enjoyed a Fifth Friday Shabbat with a full Pop-Up Band in the Beyt Knesset, and 14 years since the first Grateful Dead Shabbat.

For those who are unfamiliar, the Grateful Dead started as a group of Menlo Park/Palo Alto locals who were known for their improvisational live performances featuring an eclectic mix of bluegrass, blues, acid rock, jazz, old timey, folk, and more. Dozens of their songs include scriptural references or were directly inspired by words of Tanach.
