Reading Torah Again previous sermonIndex

Reading Torah Again @ Etz Chayim & Other Places.

When you signed your Bar/t Mitzvah contract you agreed to read Torah (or Haftarah) again, at least once. It is now time to set a date. Don't worry, we are only talking about three or four verses!

You need not rehire a tutor, for Rabbi Cartun or Jonathan Salzedo will make a recording, help you find it in your Tikkun, and review how to read & chant the Hebrew over the phone. We will do this no matter for which congregations you are reading, not just for reading at Etz Chayim.

When learning, we suggest you do it this way

  1. Read and sound out the words in Hebrew and call one of us when they you have got them down, as far as you think you can.
  2. Once you have practiced pronouncing, see what you can remember about decoding the trope that appear in his portion for yourself. If you need help with this, Rabbi Cartun or Jonathan Salzedo can help you.
  3. When you feel you have a good idea of how the words and the trope go together, call Rabbi Cartun or Jonathan Salzedo to practice.

Bring this slip with you to your last study session. Seriously, this is your ticket to the last session. No ticket, no session. No session…

Choose your date by calling Jonathan Salzedo ( 408-773-0375, or email him at
